1. What I like about Michael Jackson's Billie Jean is the editing as it would have a split of three versions of himself and he'd dance in one, it would pause and the next would pause and the contrast of his clothes and the atmosphere to the glow of the floor is a nice aesthetic. The man in heavy clothing gives a sense of mystery to the music video and the slow backdrop of the instruments emphasises this feature in the video.
2. What I like about MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This is that it starts off with the dancers going straight into dance wearing vibrant colours which could symbolize their mood, the cut of Mc Hammer doing his Iconic dance is good as it's become iconic inspiring generations and music videos that have come after with similar genres.
3. What I like about Ne-Yo - Miss Independent is the loud but soft beat that plays throughout the video and the simple edits watching Ne-Yo pursue his woman while he sings along gives the good 2000s feeling and the nostalgia and the simpleness of music videos in those times, also as Ne-Yo slowly goes from singing to dancing with his entourage.
4. What I like about Ambush - Man Can't Challenge is that Ambush brings out different people and dresses them in different colours of the same brand as they all show their talent as well as the vibrant colours, it starts from green and progresses through the colours such as red, green , yellow ,black , red and the beat is quick and simple which is one of the reasons I like this music video and as it's a remix it has to give a different vibe to the video and it does with the different artists featuring.

The music video I've chosen to do is New Edition Cool it now
1A:
GENRE- Contemporary R&B, Pop Music
STYLE- New Edition Cool it now has a style that is none like any other in that generation, they have brightly colored outfits to fit the gimmick of the music video expressing colorful feelings for the females they love
LENGTH- For a song that's 3 minutes and 38 seconds it isn't a long time and it gives enough time to get the song in especially with it's slow pace.
PACE- The speed of the song is very slow pace, it allows for you to listen to it and get everything in from the song, the beat is very rhythmic making sure you get everything in.
MEANING- The meaning of the song is to show the love that the musicians want to give to their love to their loved ones, the song is talking about how easy it is to fall in love with a woman and how the lead singer can't stop thinking about the female continuously singing about her.
IMAGERY- In the music video Cool it now the lyrics give the image of someone who's moving to fast with what they're doing and require some advice ''Cool it now, watch out'' they warn him to cool down due to him 'falling in love' and the way they sing it gives you the impression that they aren't impressed with his decision.
SEMIOTICS- There are no signs of any type of interpretation as it's said clearly.
Music Video Production Proposal: I propose we do New Edition- Cool it now as the message of the song is to not too fast in life, especially when it comes to love as you need to realise that love can make you do stupid things and you need to make sure your falling in love with the right person. The video is about the main singer who has taken a liking to this girl and his friends don't agree telling him to cool it before he falls in love and he explain to them via song he likes what he likes and he doesn't care what they think.
The reason I would like to do this music video as it isn't too technological it can be filmed in
the comfort of a garden and all we would need to make it stand out is to have a good camera with angles that can make our music video detailed, we can have our music video in a parody type style to give it that upbeat feeling that the original has. The purpose of our music video is to make it memorable to the audience and we want our music video to give a message that will stick in the minds of our audience. We will be experimenting with different styles/conventions to get the best result.
In a professional setting only the cost to film in the area we want to, the clothes and camerawork would cost money in that context
Action Plan:
Schedule: During January the whole group will come together for the filming process. Tariq will be the camera man. We will get everyone involved in the video as the music video is about everyone coming together and having fun. During free periods and lunch times we will aim to film certain parts of the atrium for the beginning of the music video and other parts of the college for rest of the music video.

The Auteur is usually the director with so much influence to the film that they are basically the author so there called a auteur.
Tim Burton is one of the most recognised directors for his achievements such as Nightmare before Christmas, his adaptation of batman and beetle juice. Tim burton has always had a dark/fantasy liking when it comes to his projects and his auteur attributes are shown in the well known film Scissor hands a film which has gone down in history as a well known figure when it comes to horror films. Burton's work is presented in this adaption from Frankenstein completely spun as one would recognise this character being made out of the Frankenstein monster as both characters are completely different having two separate backgrounds yet the parallel's are there, this is where Burton's attributes are shown his take on this character shows a horrific film turned fantasy as the protagonist that being a monster becoming a hairstylist due to the scissor hands he possess. Tim burton was always passionate of his craft as a pre-teen he was able to shot films on his 8mm and would make short films using certain stop motion animations techniques. His influence shown in his films are from paintings, films and books he read as a teen. His style is easily shown as gothic imagery as most of his films are set in dark fantasies such as Alice in wonderland and Batman both stories he isn't the author of but used his auteur vision to make his on spin on these adaptations. When it comes to casting with Tim Burton's films there isn't that much diversity as most of his cast are predominately white actors while this may be seen as racist, Burton has already explained he doesn't want to have a politically correct cast just for the sake of it but a cast that actually works with his art which unfortunately only consists of one race which isn't a problem but is seen as to some. Since his early childhood Burton has had the element of whimsical wonder and naivety in his movies. His inspiration from other films is shown but his twist is clearly highlighted as he explores the innocence of characters but also explores the dark themes that comes along with them such as in Frankenstein the innocence is shown through Frankenstein only wanting acceptance from his creator who shuns him therefore making the monster bare hatred and in contrast with Edward Scissor hands a humanoid made and shunned from society as a horrible creature which deserves to be placed in the depths of society. What makes Burton an auteur is his distinct twist on his fantasy films and other mentioned themes as he always adds a layer of depth to the story with that either being story or greater character development.
Tim Burton - Scissor hands
Edward Scissorhands , a creation by burton inspired by Frankenstein's Monster depicts a story of a unfinished humanoid in a close-minded society that shuns him and mistreats him for his deformities/Scissorhands. The movie starts off with a elderly woman telling a story of a man who has Scissorhands created by an old inventor (Vincent Price). This resulted in a boy with scissors for hands but this was only due to those being his last bit before making him real hands, unfortunately the creator died leaving the boy with Scissorhands and a whole world at his fingertips. Due to not being raised correctly as he is a humanoid Edward (Johnny Depp) is unfinished both mentally and physically as he wasn't prepared for the real life problems that would later face him. Having being left alone as a boy Edward still had that naivety meaning humans often took advantage of his hands and used him for crime such as burglary and is left with a ruined reputation and a family that mistreats him apart from a cop and female named Kim. Although being an inspired film from Frankenstein's monster Burton adapts this to his style adding more depth to the story making the ''monster'' more naïve and childlike than chaotic and dangerous leaving the audience to sympathise for his cause. Burton had done this to make the story more layered and really bring out those unique auteur attributes. Scissorhands is taught conform to society and eventually learns that his place isn't with them and disappears which shows it's similarity to Frankenstein as he disconnects himself with society to the corner of the earth. Scissorhands had many genres such as Romance, fantasy , drama, cult film which are explored thoroughly by Burton.
Tim Burton - Batman 1989
There have been many adaptions of Batman over the years but one of it's earliest versions that being Tim Burton's Batman influenced a lot of future movies as Tim Burton had made a suit completely obscure and original as it was matte black with yellow in the centre of the Symbol which the suit matching the comics description of stainless steel whereas adaptations before were made of spandex. Unlike other Batman stories this one begins in the back alley of Gotham, a family mugged by criminals and stopped by the ''Giant Bat''. Bruce Wayne is shown witnessing the murder of his parents and then his transition into billionaire who wears a costume to fight crime at night. Batman is waging his own war with evil in Gotham while trying to keep the innocent safe, his identity a secret and his lover away from this life of crime. This film being less gothic but more action/adventure is a turn for Burton as his used to his gothic depictions of stories. This story is still Burton inspired as everything is dark and gloomy showing that gothic fantasy that Burton is known for showing in his movies.
